Happy New Month!!!
Thanks to technological evolution, more resources (i.e. private information) have been digitised in order to save time and afford ease. There is therefore the need to protect these resources through authentication and
authorisation against attacks, theft and fraud by unauthorized parties.
October as been set aside as the National Cyber Security Awareness Month by the Department of Homeland Security and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA, a non-profit organization). National Cyber Security Awareness Month was designed to engage and educate public and private sector partners through events and initiatives with the goal of raising awareness about cybersecurity and increasing the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber incident.
And as such, I have decided to champion this cause as well being an Information Security student. Every week throughout this month, I would publish posts that aim to enlighten us and create awareness as regards Cybersecurity.
Think before you post anything online (e.g. Facebook, Twitter etc.). The more private information you post online, the more susceptible you are to social engineering attacks.
See you soon!
